The 10 Commandments of Moving

You have been freed from your lease. Take these commandments, honor them and you shall be delivered to the promised home.

1. Thou Shalt Have No Other Plans Before Moving Day

“I have to move tomorrow, but I can come out for a bit.” Wrong. You will need one of two things before your move: sleep or hours of frenzied packing. So thou shalt plan ahead to avoid overpacking your time before moving.

2. Thou Shalt Not Make Unto Thee Extra Stress

You are free from having to roam the streets looking for cardboard boxes for moving. You are free from calling friends asking “Hey, do you have boxes?” You are free from the added stress of multiple errands. You will have reusable plastic or cardboard moving boxes delivered to your home.

3. Thou Shalt Not Move Items in Vain

Sell that kayak you’ve never used. Donate the book you will not read. Why move things from storage space to storage space? Let your nonsense go.

4. Remember Thy Labels and Keep Them Holy

Labeling your boxes makes life easier for you and your movers. Make sure to keep your boxes organized. Make sure to label them accurately. Remember when they contain fragile items and note that accordingly.

5. Honor Thy Movers and Friends

Anyone helping you move, whether paid or not, deserves your kindness and appreciation. Give them water. Say things like “Thank You.” Get a pizza with more than one topping. Tip 20%.

6. Thou Shalt Not Overfill

No one is served by an overstuffed box. Not the person carrying it and not the items within. If you need more boxes, you shall find help in the form of an angel who delivers the same day

7. Thou Shalt Not Commit Yourself to Unrealistic Timelines

Do not schedule a housewarming party for the day after you move in, thinking it will motivate you to unpack faster. Do not do that. It will ruin your day, and then you will ruin your own party.

8. Thou Shalt Clean

Whether you’re selling a home you own, or moving out of a rental, you must clean it. Whether you need your security deposit back or not, you must clean. Cleaning is kind. And if you really don’t want to clean, you can pay someone to clean for you.

9. Thou Shalt Bear Honest Witness In Thy Google Review

Google reviews help local moving companies reach more people who need them. If you have had a positive experience, you should share that with the world

10. Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor’s Move

Your neighbor had moving boxes and supplies delivered by Banana Box? There is no need to feel jealous or try to steal those boxes from them. You can simply schedule your move with Banana Box online or over the phone at (612) 979-5137.
