The Real Banana Truth About Moving

Let’s get real — a real banana truth. What is a banana truth? A banana truth is something that you often want to ignore or wish wasn’t true, but, if we are honest with ourselves, is 100% factual.

One Of Our Banana Truths: Moving Is, And Never Will Be, FunĀ

We are a “moving” company and still have to face the facts. You get hot, sweaty, cranky, hungry…everything that can go wrong, often does. You drop boxes, pinch fingers, get irritated with your moving help, forget items, break things, etc. It is simply just not a fun time.

So, what should we do?

We could just stay where we are…but that would defeat the purpose of finding the perfect space for yourself. We could complain…that may make you feel better in the short term.

Our Solution To The Banana Truth: Put Yourself In The Best Position To Win

Seems pretty basic, right? Well, here are a few things that often slip by during the heat of your move that can make your life and move better:

  1. Move on a full stomach. Duh!! Moving while hungry is a dangerous game. If you are going to move, eat before you start. Take a break and have a snack. Grab some coffee or energy drink. Giving yourself some fuel will make you happier
  2. Move at non-peak road hours. Want to know a great way to get pissed off? Just load up a car to the brim and then wait in rush hour. Don’t put yourself in that situation. Move on a Saturday or Sunday…better yet, if possible, give yourself a few weeks to move.
  3. Get your boxes early…of course you can book early at Banana Boxes, but even if you aren’t using our boxes, getĀ  your moving supplies well in advance…one less headache to worry about.
  4. Focus on little wins. You can’t move a mountain in a day. Be happy with getting a few boxes done or a big item moved.
  5. Plan Your drop-off areas. Want to know what sucks? Pulling up to your new place and having the loading dock blocked…plan ahead and lock in your drop-off zone.

The best advice we have is to breathe. Breathe, breathe, breathe. It will all be ok. Use Banana Boxes, have a coffee (or a beer) and enjoy the next step in your life.
