What Is The Best Way To Move In The Rain?

The rain has started to roll in and that means fall and winter are coming…boo! 

But with the rain comes other challenges…especially if you are moving. So if you are moving in the Twin Cities and the rain is coming down, here are some quick tips for making your move in the rain more “a-peeling”. 

Tip 1: Use Banana Box 

This seems like a no-brainer, but our boxes are plastic, and while they are not 100% waterproof, they will not get soggy or let much water in at all. You can set them out in the rain for a few moments and your items will stay dry 

Tip 2: 1 Sheet of Packing Paper 

If you put a single sheet of packing paper over the top of every item in your boxes, that will soak up most of the drops that get in. This simple addition to each box will help you dramatically in the long run 

Tip 3: Footwear is Key 

Wearing shoes that have some traction. During the rush of the move you often put whatever on your feet that you can, but if it is raining and the move is happening, we opt for tennis or running shoes or work boots. Carrying boxes is hard enough and when you add water and flat surfaces…ahh! 

Tip 4: Wrap Electronics In Clothes/Towels 

To be extra careful with any electronics we recommend putting them in your clothes or towel boxes in between items. Just one more way to keep everything dry. 

Tip 5: Use Dollies 

When you carry boxes it can sometimes be hard to see what is in front of you – when possible use a dolly to push boxes so you have a clear line of sight.
